The University of Haifa UK, formerly called the “British Friends of the University of Haifa” was set up in the 1970s after the Yom Kippur War, when Diaspora Jewry was united with Israel, with powerful support from thinkers and leaders like Sir Isaiah Berlin and Davide Sala.

As one of the British founders said, “The University has its own spark of life, a special energy and dynamism with a mixture of the pioneer spirit and social commitment.”

Today, the University of Haifa UK is Co-chaired by Mr. Russell Jacobs and Dr Efrat Sopher and runs a swift operation, still guided by the same founding spirit, eager to support the University from afar. The University of Haifa has had long term support from many British donors and holds great potential for Israel.
